Il DAF Dance Arts Faculty, centro di formazione professionale per la danza con sede a Roma in via di Pietralata, ospita ogni anno artisti provenienti da tutto il mondo. DAF sviluppa un sistema formativo di respiro internazionale integrato con tutto ciò che, accanto alle tecniche sul movimento, possa arricchire da un punto di vista espressivo-culturale le nuove generazioni. Un vero e proprio viaggio di conoscenza e profonda trasformazione che dà la possibilità ai giovani di allargare i propri orizzonti artistici e culturali e di elaborare in modo consapevole i meccanismi che regolano l’equilibrio delle componenti umane ed emotive di un artista.
Dopo Alex Clair e Edit Domoszlai , dal 28 novembre al 9 dicembre 2022, 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐤 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐦 torna a Roma per il DAF International project.
Diplomato in danza al Cologne Conservatory, dopo gli studi Tarek Assam lavora nelle compagnie di Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf, Staatstheater Wiesbaden e Stadttheater Pforzheim (Germania). Nel 1991 inizia la sua attività di coreografo; nel 1993 lavora per il National Theatre di El Salvador come coreografo ospite e prende parte a molte competizioni internazionali.
La sua carriera come Direttore di compagnia e coreografo inizia nel 1995 al Nordharzer Städtebundtheater Halberstadt/Quedlinburg (Germania). La John Cage Foundation gli commissiona le creazioni per gli eventi multimediali sia per l’inaugurazione (2001) che per la seconda edizione (2002) del John Cage’s Organ Project ORGAN II / ASLSP. Come coreografo ospite collabora regolarmente con Varna Opera House (Bulgaria) dove, dopo aver rimesso in scena la sua serata THE WALL, riceve il Varna Cultural Prize.
Prima di fondare il TanzArt ostwest-Festival nel 2001, è direttore artistico dell’Internationale Tanzwoche Eisenhüttenstadt (Germania). Sotto la sua direzione artistica, dal 2003 si svolge nella città di Gießen l’annuale TanzArt ostwest-Festival nel cui ambito Tarek Assam promuove numerosi scambi artistici e progetti di collaborazione con compagnie di danza internazionali, teatri, istituzioni educative e organizzazioni culturali , che continuano ancora oggi.
Dal 2002 al 2022 è Direttore di compagnia e coreografo residente al Stadttheater Giessen (Germania) dove crea un intero repertorio e nuove collaborazioni con artisti e compagnie internazionali. In seguito a un ri-orientamento artistico, nell’estate del 2022 si trasferisce al Nordharzer Städtebundtheater Halberstadt/Quedlinburg come direttore artistico di TANZ HARZ.
Tarek Assam è regolarmente invitato a presentare le sue coreografie in Germania e all’estero come in Polonia, Belgio, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Repubblica Ceca, Svizzera, Austria, Italia e Cina. Inoltre, Tarek Assam promuove un dialogo dinamico con e tra diversi linguaggi di danza, generi, arti e tecnologie, al fine di sviluppare e ricercare nuove tecniche di performance e approcci coreografici.

The Daf Dance Arts Faculty based in Rome in via di Pietralata, recently announced the opening of the new Season. DAF develops an international training system integrated with everything that, alongside the movement techniques, can enrich the new generations from an expressive and cultural point of view. A big project that every year hosts artists from all over the world. A real and deep journey of knowledge that gives young people a possibility of transformation to broaden their artistic and cultural horizons.
Tarek Assam studied and graduated in dance at the Cologne Conservatory. After finishing his studies he danced in the ballet companies of Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf, Staatstheater Wiesbaden and Stadttheater Pforzheim (Germany). In 1991 he began choreographing for the company. He worked for the National Theatre of El Salvador as a guest choreographer in 1993 and successfully took part in several international choreographic competitions.
Tarek Assam’s career as Ballet Director and Choreographer started in 1995 at the Nordharzer Städtebundtheater Halberstadt/Quedlinburg (Germany). The John Cage Foundation commissioned him to choreograph multimedia events for both the inaugural (2001) and second (2002) edition of John Cage’s Organ Project ORGAN II / ASLSP. As a guest choreographer he collaborated regularly with the ballet company of the Varna Opera House (Bulgaria). After restaging his evening THE WALL in Varna, he was awarded the Varna Cultural Prize.
From 2002 until 2022 he was Ballet Director and Resident Choreographer of at the Stadttheater Giessen (Germany). There he created an extensive choreographic repertoire of full-length dance productions and collaborations with international choreographers, artists and companies. Due to an artistic reorientation, he moved back to the Nordharzer Städtebundtheater Halberstadt/Quedlinburg in the summer of 2022 in the same position, now as Artistic Director of TANZ HARZ.
Tarek Assam has been invited to present his choreographies in Germany and abroad for many years., e.g. in Poland, Belgium, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and China. In addition, Tarek Assam has fostered a dynamic dialogue with, and between, different dance languages, performance genres, fine arts and technologies, in order to develop and research new performance techniques and choreographic approaches.
Before Tarek Assam co-founded the TanzArt ostwest-Festival in 2001, he was Artistic Director of the Internationale Tanzwoche Eisenhüttenstadt (Germany). Under his artistic direction the annual TanzArt ostwest-Festival has taken place in the city of Gießen since 2003. As part of this festival, he has initiated and fostered numerous artistic exchanges and collaborative projects with international dance companies, theatres, educational institutions and cultural organizations, which continue to this day.
