L’attrice – producer – regista Tracee Ellis Ross e l’attore Kumail Nanjiani hanno annunciato ieri le nomination della 91° edizione degli Oscar®, che avrà luogo domenica 24 febbraio al Dolby Theatre® & Highland Center® di Hollywood e sarà trasmessa in diretta televisiva sul canale ABC Television Network. Gli Oscar® saranno anche trasmessi in diretta televisiva in oltre 225 paesi e territori in tutto il mondo, ma per la prima volta in tre decenni non avranno un conduttore.
Delude il sequel Disney “Mary Poppins Returns” che è stata nominata per quattro Oscar tra cui Miglior Canzone Originale per “The Place Where the Lost Things Go”, ma non ha ricevuto candidature di recitazione.
Gli altri candidati nella categoria includono “All the Stars” (“Black Panther”), “I’ll Fight” (“RBG”), “Shallow” (“A Star is Born”) e “When A Cowboy trades His Spurs For Wings” di “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs”.
Più apprezzato “A Star is Born”, che ha ricevuto otto nomination tra cui Miglior Film, Miglior Attore per Bradley Cooper (che però non è stato incluso nella categoria Miglior Regia) e (con non poche polemiche sui social) Miglior Attrice per Lady Gaga.
Anche Glenn Close è stata nominata come Miglior Attrice per il suo ruolo in “The Wife”.
Completamente snobbata la partitura di Justin Hurwitz (premio Oscar alla Miglior Colonna Sonora e Canzone Originale per “La La Land”) per “First Man” che, nonostante si pensava fosse una garanzia, non ha ricevuto nessuna nomination.
Anche Nicole Kidman per “Destroyer” e Timothee Chalamet per “Beautiful Boy” sono stati snobbati agli Oscar.
