Il nuovo musical “Dear Evan Hansen” e il revival “Hello Dolly!” hanno trionfato ai Tony Award, tenuti questa notte al Radio City Music Hall e presentati da Kevin Spacey.
Hansen ha vinto 6 Tony, tra cui il miglior attore protagonista (Ben Platt), miglior attrice protagonista (Rachel Bay Jones) e miglior Musical.
Hello Dolly! ha vinto come miglior revival di un musical, con la protagonista Bette Midler che ha vinto il premio come miglior attrice e con Gavin Creel che si è aggiudicato il premio come miglior attore non protagonista.
L’epica opera teatrale di J.T. Rogers “Oslo” ha portato a casa il premio come best play, mentre il membro del cast Michael Aronov ha vinto per la sua performance come miglior attore. Il Tony best revival of a play è andato alla prima produzione di Broadway di “Jitney” di August Wilson. Una delle vittorie più interessanti della notte è stata quella di Cynthia Nixon che si è aggiudicata il Tony per la sua performance nel ruolo di Birdie nel revival di “The Little Foxes” di Lillian Hellman.
